9.26 // Boundless Adventures Field Trip
10.11-10.14 // Fall Break, No School!
The 7th and 8th graders were visited by some new and old faces this week during the catholic schools information day. Representatives from schools all over the Chicago area, including Loyola Academy and DePaul College Prep, came to the Dank Haus to tell our students about their respective school environments. The JH students listened carefully and asked questions about everything from class sizes and IB programs to sports teams and lunch options. They were all inquirers! Later in the day some SMS alumni returned to talk about their experiences at their selected schools. It was awesome to see our alumni thriving at their school! Thank you to all who gave advice to our 7th and 8th graders! Halfway through Catholic Schools Information Day, the JH took a break for the very first Hot Dog Day! A special thanks to Mrs. McGovern who brought the food over to the Dank Haus for us! Thanks to all the parents who volunteered as well! Hot Dog Day is the best! This week, 6th grade students built prototypes for mitigating erosion. In this scenario, students had to protect citizens at the bottom of a steep hill from a landslide. Off to the races! Our St. Matthias Cross Country Team has been working hard to improve their race times. Then at their meet on Thursday they did just that! Congrats to all who raced! Looking Ahead...
