This week in I&S, the 6th graders presented their Ancient Mesopotamia Invention Projects. Each student chose a different invention from the time period including the wheel and the first map. Each poster included a title written in cuneiform as well as pictures and how that invention has impacted the world we live in today. 8th Grade this week was joined by our guest speaker from Charles Schwab to choose which stocks we will invest in. First we learned about diversifying our portfolio and when the best time to invest is. Then, as a class, we discussed which stocks we believe are going to give us the biggest return before the end of the year. The 8th graders decided to invest in Disney, Starbucks, Microsoft, and Home Depot. We will reconvene next month to check our progress and decide if we want to make any trades. Students in Ms. Olsen’s Earth Science class used the four steps of inference to construct maps of the world. Later, they researched the various landforms of the world’s regions, ultimately testing their geographic knowledge in a game of Jeopardy! 7th Grade’s inequality unit > all other units. Students were hard at work this week ahead of their unit test on inequalities. To review, we worked in partners to solve problems that used inequality symbols and then match to the correct graphs. Students used the ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills of communication and collaboration in order to be successful. 6th grade presented their anti bullying projects this week in L&L. Students explored the theme of the novel Wonder through original visuals, skits, and songs. Check out some of the presentations in action! This week the Junior High continued the basketball unit. Students worked on many drills that involved shooting a basketball from different angles of the court. They also focused our time on layups just in time for basketball season to start. Check out our Junior High teams playing every weekend! Looking Ahead...
