6th grade applied their knowledge of fractions to recipes this week. From muffins and cookies to crepes and brownies, we had it all! Students learned that math has a lot more to do with baking and cooking then they initially thought. When converting a recipe to serve more or less people the recipe will still taste the same as long as we multiply by the same fraction. Thanks for all the tasty treats! 8th graders completed their LAST lab experiment! They designed an experiment to determine the role of sunscreen: does sunscreen absorb or reflect UV? In their lab reports, they analyzed the possible implications this has on human health and the usefulness of sunscreen. Sixth grade students made a lot of progress on their L&L summative assessments! Students have been working hard to create games that incorporate the dystopian motifs from The Giver. Some are creating board games, some are creating video games, and all will produce a final write-up on their creative processes. Looking ahead...
