Today, the MYP staff eagerly welcomed the excited group of middle school students. Some have grown taller, while others have stories to share from summer travels, but their enthusiasm to be back at St. Matthias binds them together.
The focus of this year is to build community, both within the middle school grades and with the lower grades at the main campus. Although the majority of our classes take place at Dank Haus, the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade classes are an integral part of the St. Matthias family. To start the year off on the right foot, the students participated in five community building games, culminating in the "Web of Kindness". Each student complimented one other student on something he or she did that day, tossing a ball of yarn from student to student to create a "web" of positive thoughts and comments. With this emphasis on kindness and respect, we are ready to officially begin the school year at Dank Haus tomorrow.
Please remember to bring all requested supplies to Dank Haus tomorrow. All items should be clearly labeled with the student's name and grade level. Students may arrive at 7:30 or later, but must sit with Mrs. Noriega on the second floor. All students must bring a lunch tomorrow, as hot lunches will not be provided. Please contact your student's advisory teacher with any questions.
Here's to a great year!
