Can you circle numbers 1-100 one by one in 3 minutes? 6th, 7th, and 8th grade took the challenge this week! If we work well in groups, stay open-minded, and look for patterns then we can complete any task successfully! 7th graders worked on problem solving this week! They had to save “Fred,” a gummy worm, from “drowning”......but they could only use paper clips and not their hands. They did a great job problem solving and working with their partners and realized that there may be many ways to solve a problem correctly. 6th grade had a week filled with problems that reflected how all of us approach math problems differently. They worked in groups to determine what the price of a cup of coffee would be if a customer came in and asked "Hello, one small coffee" when "Small coffee" costs $5 and "Hello, one small coffee please" costs $1.75. How much do you think it would cost? 8th graders are starting their unit on chemistry by practicing strong scientific skills such as properly reading a graduated cylinder. They worked on finding volume of unknown objects in 2 ways: by measuring and multiplying the dimensions of the object or by finding its displaced water volume. They did a great job getting at eye level to read the bottom of the meniscus! This week, 8th grade participated in a “Quote Gallery Walk and Talk” which is a pre-reading activity where students talked through and analyzed quotes that tie into the the novel Life of Pi. Students talked about what quotes meant, why they agreed or disagreed with the meaning of quotes, and made predictions of how quote is connected to the novel. Have you ever heard of the Dunkelberger?? Ask any 7th grader about it! Students made models of the Dunkelberger, which is a scientific mystery because no one knows what’s on the inside to make it work and move the way it does. The students did an amazing job working to find possible solutions to model what goes on in the Dunkelberger. Multiple students found ways to model it using different methods. I wonder how many ways there are to solve this! Happy Friday!

Since I need some more tickets, my favorite thing to do during recess is to sit down because I usually get tired by the end of the day. I also like stand under the playground slide thing because there is a lot of shade under there.
