Need for Speed? The 8th graders started their unit on Forces and Motion by calculating the speed of carts on a track. The found the time it took for the cart to travel 100 cm and used the speed equation, speed = distance/time, to calculate how fast the cart was moving. Why do you have to chew your food, anyway?! 7th graders designed and carried out their own investigations on how food particle size affects chemical digestion. They did this by using antacid tables as the "food" with vinegar as the stomach acid and digestive chemicals in the stomach. They did a great job working in groups to design these experiments and an even better job carrying them out. Nice work! How do you learn to be an effective communicator? Lots of practice! Not just any practice, standing-in-a-box practice! 6th grade worked on how to give technological presentations to an audience, not a board, this week by having to stand in one place and face forward with good posture. They had investigated topics related to India and presented their knowledge to their classmates, and many of them had memorized their slides! Looking Ahead...
