7th Grade kicked off a new "Money and Markets" unit this week with a hypothetical budgeting activity. With varying amounts for a monthly budget, students had to make decisions about how much they would/could spend in categories like housing, transportation, and entertainment. They were then asked to reflect on their choices and how they came to those decisions. Next we we take salary information we researched and turn it into our own budgets! Did you know that Florence Nightingale was one of the first people to discover that cleanliness was important for patient care in 1860? What about that 1890 was the first year that surgeons started using gloves during surgery?? 7th graders looked into the history of the Germ Theory of disease and took on the roles of the important scientists who contributed to our understanding of germs, microbes, and how to prevent the spread of disease. We have come so far in such a short amount of time - starting by simply washing our hands! L&L students in all grades played “vocabulary charades” during their vocabulary review session. 8th grade vocab words included extemporaneous, invincible, rugged, and aspire! Along with notorious, beneficiary, and dilapidated for the 6th graders. Can you guess which of the words these students were acting out?
