The Newberry Library is a premier research institution in Chicago, with special collections on everything from genealogical and local history to the Renaissance. Our 7th and 8th graders participated in a special activity this week with the Newberry's travelling collection of Holocaust resources, led by Dr. Kara Johnson and Dr. Michael Pohlad. Students examined a war bond, LIFE magazine, school posters, and photographs of soldiers. They evaluated these sources from multiple perspectives-looking as a historian does at objects created in the past to answer those analytical questions of why and how.
Looks like the 8th graders had a blast in Washington dc this week! We can’t wait to hear all about your travels! Check back next week for more pictures.
